About

Child care is available for infants and toddlers, but children are welcome to join in our worship!

Whether you're just visiting or looking for a church to call home, our Sunday worship services offer you the opportunity to build your faith in God. We gather together twice every Sunday and would love to have you join us — in person or online — and experience the hope, joy, and love that comes from being part of a Christ-centered community. Our worship is simple but meaningful, focused on Scripture, prayer, singing, and the faithful preaching of the gospel. Our foundation is the unchanging truth of God’s Word, and our hope rests fully in His sovereign grace.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does a typical worship service look like?

Our services are usually 1-1.5 hours long.

We sit in pews and sing along to piano or organ accompaniment.

There is an elder or pastor who will lead the service and deliver a 20-30 minute sermon about the gospel.

After the service is over we gather in the foyer for conversation and fellowship.

What books do you use?

We use the English Standard Version (ESV) of the bible.

The songs that we sing come from the Book of Praise: Anglo Genevan Psalter which has all 150 biblical psalms put to music as well as 85 hymns.

Both bibles and psalm books are provided in the pews.

What Creeds and Confessions are used?

The main teachings of the Bible have been summarized in documents called creeds or confessions. We have chosen to adopt three creeds and three confessions as our own.

The creeds come to us from the early church, namely the Apostles’ Creed, the Nicene Creed and the Athanasian Creed. The confessions have come to us from the Reformation of the sixteenth century, namely, the Belgic Confession, the Heidelberg Catechism and the Canons of Dort.

We consider these creeds to be faithful summaries of the Word of God.

What time should I arrive?

The parking lot and pews can fill up quickly so we recommend arriving 15-25 minutes early.

What Do My Kids Do?

Our church has nursery facilities for babies and toddlers for both our morning and afternoon services.

Children beyond their toddler years are encouraged to join their family, and the rest of the worshippers, in the worship service.

What do I wear?

While we don’t have a dress code, we encourage worshippers to dress formally as they are in the presence of God.

Most people in our worship services are dressed from formal (suits, dresses) to semi-formal.

What are the sacraments?

The sacraments are baptism and the Lord’s Supper. These are administered in the worship services.

As soon as it is feasible, parents request to have their newborn child baptized in the assembly of God’s people.

As for the Lord’s Supper, it is celebrated every two months.

Can I partake in the Lord's Supper?

Before we invite you to participate in the Lord's Supper with us, the elders would like to meet with you in order to get to know your situation a little better.

Can I join a Bible Study?

Yes, our church offers a variety of Bible Studies and programs offered to anyone, even if you're not a member of our church. If you'd like more information on joining, please email homemission@edmontonimmanuel.ca
